Welcome to Fever Pitch Fives!!

5-a-side football is now more popular and than its 11-a-side partner. This is little wonder since “fives” is an ideal way of maintaining your personal fitness and honing your football skills. Moreover, it gives you an opportunity to meet new people and be involved in your local community.

New Rules on Borrowing Players.

We have noticed a number of teams "borrowing" players from other teams lately. In the past this went against our rules but we have now decided to allow each team to borrow only 1 player from any team in the league to get matches on and so that everyone can get a game! Teams will be monitored to ensure no one takes advantage of this rule. Teams will only be able to borrow a player to make their team up to 5. You cannot borrow a player to give you a sub.

Season 25 League Winners!

Congratulations go to SPARTAK FROME who took the Premiership title and also congratulations to FUBAR winning the Championship at the first time of asking! Both well deserved winners!!

Well done to both Straddling of Robbie’s Rhinos and Coleman of Fubar for picking up the coveted Player of the Season Award!! We have a joint award this season due to both men winning Man of the Match 6 times during last season!

This will be awarded to the top scorer across both leagues at the end of the season.

Top Goal Scorer - Season 25

Congratulations go to Richard Coleman of Fubar for winning the Fever Pitch Fives Top Goal Scorer Award. Rich scored 42 goals and helped his team win the Championship.

We will be introducing the following new rules to Fever Pitch Fives starting on 4th January 2010: -

Back Pass Rule. Keepers will no longer be allowed to pick the ball up from a back pass. If a keeper picks a ball up from a back pass, a direct free kick will be awarded from the edge of the penalty area adjacent to where the ball was handled.
Keepers will now be allowed to dive to make a save with their feet within his area. Failure to win the ball will result in a penalty. A slide tackle outside his area will result in a free kick and possibly a Blue card.
Top goal scorer. Each time a player scores he must tell the referee in charge of his surname. The ref will then record it. If a player does not tell the Referee his name, the goal will not be added to the top goal scorers table.
An opposition player must be 5 yards away for free kicks and 2 yards away for throw in's.

The FA's Respect Campaign!

As most of you will already be aware, the FA are running a respect campaign at all levels of the game. Referee abuse is a big issue in the game especially at grass roots level and we need to get it out of the game. We have lost a few good referee's recently due to the amount of abuse they were receiving. Being a Ref is not an easy job and they will never get every decision correct. Please keep this in mind as it is very difficult to recruit new officials for our league and we'd like to keep who we have!!

Fever Pitch Fives: Frome League

Our latest league is hosted by Frome Leisure Centre on their new floodlit astro-turf pitches. Showers and changing facilities are available. 40 minute games will be played on Tuesday nights at 20:00 and 20:45.

Fever Pitch Fives are always looking for new teams to join our excellent leagues. Download the Entry Form and post it to us and soon you will be competing against your local rivals and catching the fever!

Fever Pitch Fives is a great night out for you and your mates. We have everything organized for your enjoyment; the pitches are well maintained, the referees are FA qualified and the balls are regularly renewed. We even run leagues to encourage a competitive edge to your game. There will be promotion and demotion with cups and medals for league winners. All you need to do is turn up and show off your silky skills. Our on site coordinators ensure that everything runs smoothly for everyone’s enjoyment.

REFEREES NEEDED!!

We are looking for new referees to join our team. If you are a referee and interested in getting involved please contact us on : -

07795 954 961. We pay our ref's £25 for 2 x 40 minute matches. Alternatively, if you know a referee and you refer him to us, and he joins the team, we will pay you £25 commission!! Easy money!!

FA Affiliation Gained

We are pleased to confirm that the Somerset FA have sanctioned our competition. The approval committee has given the go ahead for the league and has promised us their complete backing. The FA will also provide us with the public liability insurance that is required to run an organization such as Fever Pitch Fives. Each team will need to be affiliated to the FA, we will do this for you and pay the affiliation fee.

Trainers or Astroturf Boots Must Be Worn!!

Note to all players : - The leisure center have asked us to remind all players that only astro boots or trainers are permitted on the pitch as studded, blades or moulds damage the pitch.

Shin Pads Must Be Worn

All players participating in matches must wear shin pads. Failure to do so will mean that you are not permitted to play in these matches and any future matches where you do not have the necessary equipment.
